Barely functions on Mac OS, Stuttering, freezing and crashes are inevitable.
I use this app for so many things. A couple of them being obviously sounds to help me sleep at night, and then the other big application I use this for is in my media office. We have an office that doesn't have any exterior windows so it feels a bit sterile without any vibes. So I put some sounds FX on our JBL surround sound and it really helps open up the room and cuts back on the sterile feeling. Super love this app!
I use m1 max macbook pro. when I click the favorite icon, the app gives no response and collapse
Have the ipad/iphone version, which I like. Paid for the premium - you haven't fixed the problem with favorites or done anything with this app. What's up?
cannot open favorites software easy to crush or dead please do some testing and fix the lowest software development quality
I use it everyday for work, but please update it so this is a menu bar app only. thanks
Thank goodness I still have my original purchase of this app, sitting on a MacPro1,1 with Snow Leopard on it under the worktable.. I took the upgrade on my newer MacPro with El Capitan - THEN bumped up to Mojave and things went south quickly. The version I bought a decade ago - Relax Melodies Premium v2.0 - on my original (STILL WORKING a heck of a lot better than Mojave, I might add) Snow Leopard install with the wonky upside-down "Proudly Powered by Lightspeed" broken logo in the corner.. THAT version is flawlessly running in Mojave. As the updated version was running in El Capitan before I upgraded to Mojave, I have to lay this one on Apple's feet. When the anal-retentive security goes to the point it starts to break apps, and the developers are in a constant game of whack-a-mole WRT keeping up with Apple's OS changes (and obviously give up trying to stay on top of everything), it's definitely getting harder for this 30 year long Power User to want to stay in Apple's walled garden much longer. Extremely disappointed in the direction things are headed at Apple. DO NOT BUY! If you have an older copy floating around on an old system or tucked away on a time machine archive.. and are still on Mojave (dunno if it's is a 64-bit app, somehow I doubt it) copy that older version into your system. Catalina and Big Sur users.. you may be out of luck. Get your money back if you can.
I enjoy this app. I love layering the sounds together to get the perfect lullaby of noise that helps me sleep. Excellent meditations, too! Really into it :)
The app seems to be permanently frozen on the intial "sounds" screen. I can no longer access anything that's not on that first screen. I've tried re-starting my computer, quitting the app, nothing is fixing the issue.
The app becomes frozen then crashes when I try to click onto Favorites. I am not able to use the app anymore... It feels like the developers who made this app were extremely dedicated to innovating and maintaining it, but it became disappointing.
The favorites tab crashes in MacOS Big Sur (not sure if this is a recent problem as I just got the app). And also I'm finding it buggy overall, but it provides enough value that I'm still using it. One star because I can't find an easy way to contact support (their help page is just a general FAQ)
Now i'm no longer able to aceess my faviorites. Now I have to keep re-creating each mood. I've alreay tried updates and re-downloading the app. Nothing seems to work.
We have used this app for years on our iPad and it has been a lifesaver for our special needs child. The whole family ended up using it and loving it. I recently purchased the desktop version for my Macbook and didn't think twice about it because I figured it would be the same. I am not sure if it needs updated to work with the later versions of MacOS but the favorites do not work at all and it freezes all of the time. Super dissapointing for an app that you have to pay for. I would love to return and update my review once improved. Otherwise, I have yet to find another app that offers the variety and choices and in a beautiful app setting. I have tried and paid for all of the other top rated apps that offer similar features and Relax Melodies is still by far the best in terms of variety and sounds.
Whenever I click any of the other tabs at the top, e.g. "Favorites", the application interface freezes. Only the original "Sounds" interface is available. It was an excellent app before -- Please fix!
I really love this app and has been using it for a very long time. Only to discover recently it STOP working properly - cannot click Favorites and seems to "freeze" when you try clicking aroound. Please fix this. Thank you
Tried to use it on November 17th and it no longer plays sounds or responds to mouse clicks.
As of October, 21 2020 this app on Mac has stopped working. Whether I click on individual icons or try to go to my Favorites, nothing responds. This is a shame as I really enjoyed this app prior to this happening. I would change my rating if this is resolved.
The good: The sound quality is great, and the sounds combine well. Amazingly effective at blocking distracting sounds and in meditation with proper sound choices. Excellent and speedy support. Overall this app has become an essential part of my workplace toolkit to drown out distracting noises and improve concentration and focus, and I can hardly imagine working without it now. The bad: Impossible to adust or fine-tune favorites once you save them. No way to add your own sounds. Interface is a bit odd, and uses a fair bit of CPU (15% ) when not hidden. Musical selections are, for the most part, a little cheezy and too much like 80's new-age MIDI music. Sound grouping are odd, and I wish I could re-arrange them (e.g. what does "India" have to do with "Lounge" and "River?").
I have been using for a few years now when I study, read, or to sleep. I love that I can change the smallest sound and vary the intesity of each on its own.
I have used your apps for a few years now and have never had an issue until now. I just purchased my first macbook and the speakers on it are amazing. I was thrilled to see that you guys had an app available for my macbook. I was happy to purchase it. But ive run into an annoying problem with it. Everyime i try to set up some sounds another "white noise" type sound starts playing on its own and over powers whatever sounds i have on and I CANT TURN IT OFF! It wont shut up! I force quit the app and its still on. This needs to be fixed... plus scrolling on the app on the macbook isnt great either.
Lotsa really amazing facets to this application. I'm always exploring. It's been my link to sanity in my workplace. Thank you for this...
I only use the soothing sounds part of this app, and I love them a lot. There is a great selection and you can mix several of them to customize your own soundscape. Defiintely worth the money!
I use this app on my compute, specially whenever there is so much distracting sounds around. I just mix sounds of rain and thunder and wind and other stuffs and make it loud enough to cover the noise around me. Unlike other kinds of music, you mind just gets wraped in it and doesn't care about anything other than what is in front of you, that needs attention!
I like that you can configure the sounds to what is most enjoyable at the moment
I listen at work to drown out the noise of my loud workmates. Thanks Relax Melodies.
This app helps me with studying and focusing while reading. I've gotten many an 'A' in some pretty challenging classes.
I love this app. It’s like being a composer, but using soothing sound bites to compose your composition.
I've used ambient sound to drown out distracting noise for years. Nothing more convenient that this when working on a Mac.
My absolute favorite app for ambient soundscapes
You can create your own mixes.
Really liked the older version of this app that I used on MBP and used it often as my main alarm clock while on the road. When the new version came out I was very disappointed that the only alarm clock sound it offers on my laptop is just the soothing sounds - no harsh sound to wake up to. So I downloaded it on my iPhone and switched to using the phone app - but for the last month of use I have found that the alarm times do not clear out after use. On night one I would use a 5:00 alarm, and on night 2 in a different time zone I would want a 6:45 alarm. I was not happy to wake up to a 5:00 alarm on night 2. I figured it was my error in one way or another, but it randomly repeats previous alarms, regardless of whether I clear that alarm time and set a new one, or even clear all alarms and have nothing displayed for an alarm (like wanting to sleep in), it still turns on an alarm. This has become a useless app that I cannot trust.
The latest version 6.0.2 for the Mac is causing the Discrete graphics card to be used instead of just using the integrated graphics card on a 2018 Mac Book Pro running macos 10.14.1. This is causing heating issues, high CPU usage and shortened battery life. All of this and the update really didn't add anything except to mess up the selection of the Discrete graphics card. This has greated such a problem I can no longer use the product. I hope this is fixed quickly becuase it does help with my Tinnitus. Was a happy user now an unhappy one.
i was very shocked when I turned it on to go to sleep and it was all changed. Im very upset, It seems like just when you get somethig you like just like you want it someome (ill keep it clean), comes along and changes everything. it would have been great if you could have been smart enough to just set up another one. So people have a choice'
I use this everyday when I am working. It helps me concentrate on the tasks at hand and shut out any audible distractions that occur around me.
I bought the premium version of this app on my MacBook and my AppleTV, and I have the free version on my iPhone and iPad. Most of the "sounds" in the available library are high quality and well done. There are only a few I have found of a lesser quality, like for example where the loop is detectable within the track, or where there's too much ambient noise surrounding a specific sound I want. I notice that they keep adding new sounds to the library, which is fantastic and a big part of the reason for this review. I only use the sounds that aren't musical, but I'm sure those musical sounds are loved by many as well. I absolutely LOVE combining 3 to 12 different sounds, blending them together at different volumes using the built-in "mixer" feature, and saving them as favorites for later. I play with this feature way too often! If I had once wish, it would be for my "favorites" to transfer from device to device, but I enjoy creating new mixes so much, this is a very minor complaint. Huge thanks to Ipnos Software for this app - it allows me hours and hours of distraction-free work.
I loved this app. It worked fine until I updated today to 6.0 (25) on my Mac running MacOS 10.14.1. Now all I get is a blank Relax Melodies landscape, no icons, no Preferences. Tried reinstalling. Please fix this app!
This app has bugs and looks like it is not optimized for Mac OS Mojave 10.4...
needs a global mixer for the sounds
I have relax melodies on all my devices…..it is a valuable resource that enhances mood…..concentration…relaxation….has it all and with so many sound options any user preferences are surely met!
It’s good at what it does. But stuff aren’t as intuitive as they can be. Definetely feels like a aged design.
i have insomnia and this app lulls me to sleep. Many sounds to choose from and mix.
I was a huge fan of the various Relax Melodies products, but the latest updates keep asking me to spring for the premium version (I have, for all of them, and more than once in a couple of cases what with package deals) and make me sit through tutorial and intro screens I have no interest in without allowing me to skip them (Relax Meditation, I’m looking at YOU). Worse yet, the overall volume slider has vanished from Relax Melodies Premium, which is a truly baffling decision. Allowing me to set each sound to its own volume and then set the application’s volume *independently* of my device's volume was one of the app’s major selling points and I have a hard time understanding why a paid feature was removed. (Mac version.) A while back I’d have enthusiastically given this 5 stars. Now I’m considering removing the apps from all my devices and asking for a refund. Not happy.
I got the free version for a Kindle Fire I had. I was impressed. So impressed, I sprung for the full version the next day. I got an iPad mini. One of the first apps I bought for it was this Relax Melodies. I am writing this on my Mac while I am waiting for the Premium version to download. I am glad I got the free version, but the paid is so much better. I have downloaded several other “Noise Machines” and none of them come close to this. It is worth every penny I have spent on it, time after time. I wrote the above several years ago. I cannot lie to you. This is still the best, hands down, period, and several other terms that you will have to listen to this app to come up with yourself!
I’ve had RM on my ipod for years. Now I have it on my iphone and MacBook. It’s simply got the best selection of sleep sounds & “cover noise” of any I’ve heard. The water sounds are primo- not too much tinkling treble; the melodies are very simple and abstract enough that the looping isn’t annoying. I like the ability to stack your own tracks and make your own mix. I’ts great to block out outside noises and great for masking sounds coming from inside. I play it in my room when I’m up late and you can’t even hear it outside in the hall- and that’s the point- you can’t hear anything! Well done.
Downloaded the app for iPhone and subsequently purchased the premium library for life-time access. The library used on the iPhone is not accessable using the iMac and another library must be purchased but the library used for the iMac does not include any meditations and many other features that are available on the iPhone app. Disappointed as a user would believe that, with current technology, the premium library with life-time access would be available across devices as the look and feel of the apps is vertually identical with no delineation.
For my entire life I’ve been unable to write when hearing music with English lyrics, conversations around me, or any kind of language that my brain may want to interpret. No idea why, but that’s the scoop. This app is brilliant and is the perfect foil for my concentration challenges. I love the total customization - I can create just about any environment I want. Further, the loops are pretty lengthy so, unlike other apps where you hear the FX looping too frequently, this one’s loops are - while not unrecognizably lengthy - just fine. Great app. I happily purchased the add-ons both to get added effects and to support the developers. Cheers!
I liked this sleep aid. However since OS 10.11.6 it crashes when launching the app. The app hasn’t been updated since 2012 so I’m guessing this is abandoned software. I’d rather if a developer moves on to something else that they let another developer carry the torch. This kind of sad experience reflects badly on the whole Mac app store concept.
When i record this app sound and upload to youtube, It’s said Includes copyright content.
